NIGHTMARISH SERIES OF SURGERIES BECOMES FIENDISHLY FUN SHORT FILM
Los Angeles, California (March 5, 2013) – After enduring seven surgeries for what should have been a routine hernia repair, writer/director David Garrett wrote & created The Wound; a nightmarish comedic horror short about a surgical wound that eats people.
Garrett spent two years recovering from the hernia and subsequent procedures, at one time isolated for weeks in a hospital room with a nasty infection. It was during this time that he wrote The Wound. The 18 minute short premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California on March 1, 2013 in the Mind Benders category and was so popular with audiences that it garnered an encore screening.
The Wound tells the story of a woman (Arianna Ortiz, a native Texan) who tries to re- cuperate from abdominal surgery at an idyllic seaside home. One morning her surgical wound comes to life and let’s just say it doesn’t behave.
