Weird Wednesday: Christmas Edition

Ah, Christmas. Season of goodwill and such. But it also seems to be the season of bloodshed and injury. We took a look at some of the strangest festive deaths and injuries from the UK.

Hospitals reported 4 broken arms last year after cracker pulling accidents. We presume all of them occurred from people wearing this costume being beat up.

Three people die each year testing if a 9v battery works on their tongue. I’ll admit to having tried this one.

Five people were injured last year in accidents involving out of control Scalextric cars. Unless it was this full size Scalextric, we’re confused.

Eighteen people had serious burns in trying on a new jumper with a lit cigarette in their mouth. Which makes a slightly less threatening Freddy origin story.

Thirty one people have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the fairy lights were plugged in. Thirty one people are officially less intelligent than this dog, who seems to be doing fine.
