SKELF: More Info

We asked Scottish director Jason Harvey about his short film SKELF, available now on the film channel.

What inspired you to make the film?

I was inspired to make the film through working as assistant director on Adriana Polito ‘s ‘She Wolf of the Woods’ earlier this year. Being an actor I feel it opened another avenue for me and really got my creative juices flowing .

I wanted to make something on a shoestring budget and decided to write a script using the things I have at my disposal. Being a self employed joiner made this fairly simple as everything you see in the film is equipment I use on a daily basis. SKELF was made on a budget of £80.

What are your favourite Scottish films?

Gregory’s Girl, Orphans, Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, Small Faces and My Name is Joe. I suppose Braveheart has to get a mention, lol.

What’s your favourite horror film?

My favourite horror film has to be The Exorcist. Still scares the crap out me and gives me nightmares!

Tell us about your zombie survival strategy.

My zombie strategy is to rip all the zombies faces off and make loads of nail bags and sell them down the Barras!

What do you have planned for the future?

I am currently in pre production with Adriana Polito and good friend Paul John Ross who was my D.O.P and editor on SKELF. We plan to make another horror this year and hopefully more to follow next year.
