Scottish Female Filmmakers Launch Indie Horror ‘Doppelparents’ on IndieGoGo

You may remember Aimie Willemse’s short horror film Echo from our Bite Size festival a couple of years ago. Aimie is now creating another short horror film ‘Doppelparents’ and is seeking support for the project on IndieGoGo.

Doppelparents is a short horror/thriller film in the vein of ‘Coraline’ meets ‘Us’, written and directed by Aimie Willemse and produced by Lisa Marie Herbers. The tale is about a frustrated graduate struggling to adapt to living back home, who learns the consequences of impulsively wishing her parents away over the course of a gory family dinner.

The campaign explains; “The horror of moving back home after university is real and becoming increasingly common for young adults nowadays. Our protagonist, Jade, is a disillusioned 20-something year old girl who is exactly in this position:  graduated, unemployed and living with her parents again.”

The team behind the film is made up of female filmmakers, who are set to create a “deliciously gory, horror short that highlights our hunger for both stylised supernatural horror and rich family drama”. Aimie Willemse creates compelling stories by experimenting with different genres in order to create authentic and fresh perspectives throughout her prolific film-making career.  Her micro short “Echo” was a 2018 FrightFest Scottish finalist.
