They’re among the oldest monsters in cinema history, and have been providing scares for over 80 years. The Universal Monster lineup contains iconic characters including Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon. And while recent attempts to reboot the franchise have largely failed – horror fans continue to appreciate the original versions.
We’ve covered many awesome projects based on the monsters, including incredible graffiti art, tiki redesigns, 50s makeovers and impressive costumes. So this pop-up event and it’s array of monster goodies caught our attention. San Diego’s Super7 Store is in the midst of a special event – the second in a series – called ‘Revenge of the Boodega’. It’s essentially a classic monster takeover, with special edition and exclusive items lining the shelves to tempt horror fanatics.
Many of the items seem to draw influence from monster merchandise of yesteryear – with masks and figures bearing a striking resemblance to some of the toys released in the 1950s.
