While Halloween celebrations are likely to look a little different this year, that hasn’t stopped horror fans from preparing for the spooky season. Many of us might be spending the holiday indoors, in smaller groups of family and friends, and the Halloween industry is preparing accordingly.
Boooo-opoly is a new board game launching in time for Halloween 2020, adding to the options for those unable to attend traditional public celebrations amid the coronavirus crisis. The game is designed by Late For The Sky, an environmentally conscious games publisher.
It has some similarities to classic Monopoly, updated with Halloween the ming. Instead of being sent to jail, players are ‘scared stiff’. Haunted Houses make up the property that can be purchased in place of the usual hotels and companies. The game pieces have been reimagined to fit the haunted aesthetic too. Boooo-opoly is recommended for kids eight years old and over, and is designed for families.
The product description explains “Players buy favorite Halloween properties, collect Haunted Houses and trade them in for Full Moons. Sounds easy enough, but add Fright Fees, Bats in your Belfry, or get caught soaping windows and it becomes a little more difficult and a lot more fun! You may win the Jack-o-lantern carving contest or you may end up eating Slimy Spider Tacos at the Monster Mash! Whatever happens, it’s going to be frighteningly fun!”
The game is available to preorder now.
