Visual Comics have announced the launch of Monster Magazine. The retro horror/comic magazine, contains film reviews, comics, and monsters…lots of monsters!, and covers material from 1972 and back.
The first issue is now available to order. The magazine’s founder Vance Capley is a self-taught artist who has worked in various mediums, including drawing, painting and graphic design, for over 20 years.He writes and illustrates many of his own publications including Devil Bat, Grizzly Bear Man, and the upcoming Thundervolt comic book.
Issue one contains an article by blogger Dave Goode (the Goode Stuff blog). He writes about the 1965 cult film Konga. David Walker presents a look into surreal moments in horror films. And Vance Capley presents an illustrated version of H.P. Lovecraft’s Dagon. There is also an interview with the cover artist, Ricky Blalock.
The project is inspired by classic horror magazines of the past, including Famous Monsters of Film Land, Eerie, Creepy, and Nightmare.
