You might not have heard of sculptor Landon Meier, but you’ve probably seen his work. Those eerily realistic masks, often representing fictional characters, politicians and terrifying babies are his handiwork – straight from his studio Hyperflesh.
Great Big Story are a Youtube channel who profile people with unique experiences and professions. The followed Landon in his studio, where he explained that he began making masks when he was laid off, and quickly discovered he was the only person in the world making hyper realistic masks. They fall into the category of uncanny valley, looking virtually perfect as representations of human faces – but still being unbelievably unnerving.
