Indie Horror Art at Popcorn Horror’s Halloween Horror Night
As well as showcasing a range of independent horror films at our Halloween Horror Night in the Glasgow QMU, we have also invited along a selection of local horror artists to exhibit and sell their work. It’s a great opportunity to pick up some independent horror pieces and chat with the artists about their work. Here’s a run down of who’s going to be there and what to expect.
Al Reid of Haywire Visions will be selling his work at the event. We met Al at Glasgow Collectmania and loved his cute, quirky horror and sci-fi adaptations. He describes himself as “a Glasgow based pen and ink artist bringing you his own haywire visions of things you already love and some of his own creations.” Here’s one of our favourite Haywire Visions pieces, a collection of iconic horror and sci-fi characters adapted into Disney’s Baymax’s cuddly form.
Also joining us is Little Horror Box who creates fantastic spooky craft pieces. Our personal favourites of her collection are her tiny bottles containing all manner of spooky contents! Her other works have included Halloween themed charms and ghost earrings – we thought she would be a perfect fit for the event. Check out an example of Little Horror Box’s beautiful tiny bottles below.
If you like the sound of spooky jewellery, you’ll also want to pay a visit to Stella My Star’s table. She creates unique, one-of-a-kind charm bracelets based on various horror tropes and spooky images. Her work features representations of films including The Cabin in the Woods and The Lost Boys, as well as zombies and skull themes. Check out her fantastic ‘Zombie Nation’ bracelet below.
Perhaps you’ll fancy something to eat while you check out our selection of independent horror shorts. Luckily we are welcoming Sonia – a local baker to the event. She will be selling a selection of delicious Halloween themed cakes and treats. Check out a sample of her spooky work below.
And finally, if you haven’t managed to get a costume together for Friday, we have a professional face-painter joining us. Debs is fundraising to build a sensory garden for individuals with communication and sensory needs and will be offering her services to raise money for this fantastic cause. Check out some of her Halloween works below.
Stella My Star, Little Horror Box and Haywire Visions have all kindly donated pieces of their work to our raffle. Sonia, our baker, has generously offered a gift voucher for her store for raffle also. The raffle prizes will be on display throughout the night as an indie horror exhibit.
