Glasgow Krampus Market
People of Glasgow – meet Krampus: a half-goat, half-demon, horrific beast who literally beats people into being nice and not naughty.
Krampus, whose name is derived from the German word krampen, meaning claw, is said to be the son of Hel in Norse mythology. The legend is part of a centuries-old Christmas tradition in Germany, where Christmas celebrations begin in early December. Krampus was created as a counterpart to kindly St. Nicholas, who rewarded children with sweets. Krampus, in contrast, would swat “wicked” children and take them away to his lair.
This December, Popcorn Horror will welcome the spirit of Krampus to a unique festive market. Taking place in BLACKFRIARS, 36 Bell Street, Glasgow. The market will run 12:30PM until 8PM in the appropriately spooky basement area, with dark seasonal decor and a wide variety of stalls offering everything you might need for frightful festivities. Pick up Christmas gifts for the special spook in your life, find unique alternative festive decorations, treat yourself to deliciously dark foods, and browse a stunning variety of artwork from local horror artists.
