Just when we thought we’d seen every spooky variation on the My Little Pony franchise imaginable, these incredibly creative ‘Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse’ popped up. Although they’ve already surpassed their goal on Kickstarter, we thought this was worth sharing for the awesome designs alone. The models were conceived by Bigshot Toyworks, a collective of sculptors, designers and others involved in the toy industry. The team, prior to revealing the four ponies, had already successfully funded a Cthulhu inspired model through crowdfunding.
The team explain the backstory of these characters: “It’s the end of the world as we know it…or is it? Meet Calamity (Pestilence), Raven (Famine), Clash (War) and Ghost (Death). They’re the Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse (or at least they would be if they could only get their act together)! This next-generation of doombringers are on a mission to destroy the Earth, but to do so, they’ll have to beat the likes of Queen Chroma and her rainbow sprite army! Too bad they can’t crack teamwork to save their lives.”
The rewards for backing the project on Kickstarter include including the Four Horsies figures themselves in three different colorways, plus Four Horsies apparel, stickers, accessories and more. Both glow in the dark and clear special editions have also been revealed, alongside a host of other merchandise including clothing, mugs, phone covers and wallets.
Klim Kozinevich, who designed the characters, is the Bigshot at Bigshot, with nearly 20 years of experience in character based product design, and the entertainment industry. From developing mascot characters, hand-sculpting prototypes to overseeing production of best-selling toys for mass market, Klim has worked and innovated in every area of the industry. At Bigshot, Klim is the creative lead and oversees all character design and development.
The team have plans to expand upon the Four Horsies brand and have a convention presence and web based TV show inspired by the characters.
The characters featured are Raven (representing famine), Clash (representing war), Calamity (representing pestilence) and Ghost (who represents death). You can check out the project on Kickstarter, or find out more at the official website.
