Lonely, isolated and anxious young men and women feature prominently in the illustrations of artist Virgini Mori. Her deceptively simple illustrations are quirky, dark, and often darkly humerus. Along with the outsider human characters, Mori also commonly features dark and shadowy cats and other animals.
The artist lives and works in Pesaro and Milan. She studied animation and design at the State Art Institute in Urbino. Her favorite media are pencil, ink, and ballpoint pen on paper – which compliments the minimalist style of these surreal drawings.
As well as being an artist, Mori is also an animator and filmmaker, being the director of the animated film Haircut.
