Web series’ are making something of a comeback, as evidenced by the growing popularity of Dead Kansas. Dead Kansas, directed by Aaron K. Carter is a zombie film, published in a serialised form online. In a post-apocalyptic land consumed by “Rottens”, a simple farmer and his teenage daughter struggle to survive. Meanwhile, an unruly gang make a plan to kidnap and sell the daughter for their own selfish profit. With the farmer/gang confrontation, a wicked tornado approaching, and “Rottens” everywhere – who will get out alive? There’s blood, vengeance, and a bit of dark humour thrown into this indie project, which has been described as “The Walking Dead on a budget”.
Since beginning it’s life as a web series, Dead Kansas has been selected by Salty Horror Film Festival, Burbank International Film Festival, and the Macabre Film Festival (among others). You can check out the first instalment below, but we’d recommend getting comfortable and watching the film in it’s entirety. All five chapters are available on YouTube.
