These four horrific unicorns, created by Janine (scenceable) are based on the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Death, Famine, Pestilence, and War. These unique creations are made from polymer clay over a wire and foil armature, painted in acrylics, and given real metal chains, real fur hair, and inset glass eyes.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, called the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ to John the Apostle. The Christian apocalyptic vision is that the four horsemen are to set a divine apocalypse upon the world as harbingers of the Last Judgment.
Each unicorn has a body length about four inches, and they range from 5 to 8 inches tall. Death is represented by the equine skeleton, with devious glowing white eyes. Famine is represented by emaciation, torture, and chains binding him. War is represented by ornate silver tack, a lot of strength, and rage. Finally, Pestilence is represented by rotting flesh, having been wasted away by maggots and insects over the years.
Janine has been creating these pieces since 2008 while completing her B.sch. in Psychology. She has never had any formal art training, and is self-taught through online research and hands-on exploration. In the past months she has been receiving commissions on a regular basis, and selling pieces through Etsy and Ebay.
The sculptures are currently available as a set via the artist’s Etsy.
