Remember that weird point in time when movies that were very much not child friendly suddenly launched cartoons and toy lines? It had it’s heyday in the 1980s, with ‘Terminator’, ‘Beetlejuice’ and the ‘Alien’ franchise all getting a kid friendly makeover.
Illustrator Phil Postma has been a character animator for twenty years. He decided an interesting project might be to re-imagine some of the most iconic characters from horror movies as toys designed for spooky kids. The designs feature Freddy, Jason, Leatherface and more – all with the distinct look of vintage toys.
He explains “This mash-up just popped into my brain one afternoon and I just had to make them. It is a literally my youth mashed together with toys I have played with as a kid and my love of the horror movies from teen years.”
