The Shining’s Overlook Hotel Constructed From Gingerbread
Every family has their Christmas traditions, but Aaron and Austin Keeling’s (the directors of The House on Pine Street) might be the best! The brothers make intricate pop culture themed gingerbread houses, and this year’s is pretty epic. They’ve taken on the iconic Overlook Hotel setting of The Shining and transformed it into an edible Christmas treat.
Not only did they re-create the hotel, but they also captured several key moments from the movie including the twins, and the blood rushing from the elevator. The hotel landscaping also got some attention with the model featuring the grounds and hedge maze seen on screen.
The gingerbread sculpture is constructed using gingerbread, icing, fondant, candy, and Rice Krispie Treats, and measures over four feet across.
