This latest honeycomb face might give some people the creeps, but we love the detail the artist has created. Special effects makeup specialists Ellimacs SFX demonstrated the creation of the effect in a tutorial video.
First off, the artist mixes a honeycomb mold by mixing liquid latex and flour. The liquid latex and flour came together to create a clay-like substance – which then can be pressed into the honeycomb shapes and painted. When the mold is applied to the face, more holes and details are added, as well as the ornamental bees.
The ‘honey’ is actually hair gel and food colouring – but looks very realistic.
