Believe it or not, but this is a 100% edible gingerbread house!
Cake artist Christine McConnell created the incredible one-off sculpture for the LA premier of Tim Burton’s latest film. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is an upcoming dark fantasy set in a spooky manor, which the artist has skillfully re-created in gingerbread form.
McConnel transformed the manor at the centre of the story into a 2 foot tall cake masterpiece by studying pictures of the Belgian mansion used for filming. She built a cardboard model first, and used the pieces as stencils for her gingerbread dough.
There’s a ton of detail in the piece, including delicate windows, panelling, and a working clock which runs backwards. It’s no surprise then, that the project took over fifteen days and involved baking twenty batched of gingerbread.
