As many of you will know, yesterday marked the beginning of Women in Horror Month – and our annual celebrations of this great cause. Of course, one of the biggest goals of the Women in Horror campaign has been to find ways to making the film industry more accessible to women, who are underrepresented across all genres.
For fifteen years, the Female Eye Film Festival has been providing opportunities for female filmmakers – and this year they’re specifically looking to support and showcase work in the horror genre. Currently, the festival is seeking entries for it’s Late Night Thrills and Chills program, the horror/thriller/sci-fi and fantasy section of the festival.
The film submissions must by directed by women, although the festival do offer a Script Development Program open to both men and women as long as their script features a female protagonist.
It’s awesome to see more festivals getting on board with female directed horror, and showcasing the next generation of iconic women in horror. To submit a film, or find out more – check out the Female Eye website.
