If you’ve been following Popcorn Horror over the past couple of months, you’ll know that we’re big supporters of indie horror SCYTHE from director Jim Rothman. We featured the short film – a proof-of-concept for a feature – as our Short of the Week, and gave the more realistic slasher style high praise in our review.
Since the team behind the short launched a Kickstarter Campaign to support a full-length version, we’ve been watching closely. There’s a lot for horror fans to get on board with, with a film promising to ditch overused slasher tropes in favour of developed characters and psychological fear. The horror community clearly agrees, with over $44,000 already pledged to the campaign.
There’s now just 24 hours left for the SCYTHE team to meet their target of $50,000. It’s been market as a ‘project we love’ by the Kickstarter community, and has caught the imaginations of horror fans. Andrea from the team described it as ‘Halloween meets James Wan, crossed with a stylish thriller’.
Head over to Kickstarter now to find out more about the project, and to help the team raise the final few thousand of their target.
